Executive Director: Dr. J. Douglas
Salmon, Jr.
Dr. Douglas Salmon holds a Master's Degree in Vocational
Rehabilitation Counselling and a doctorate specializing
in Rehabilitation and Neuropsychology. He is the author
and co-author of numerous rehabilitation assessment and
outcome evaluation instruments including the
Rehabilitation Checklist; the Rehabilitation,
Neuropsychological and Health Status Inventory; and the
Pre/Post Condition Life Events Checklist, among others.
He is also the author of Recovery from Whiplash,
Concussion and Brain Injury, the Rehabilitation
Education and Coping Series, and treatment resource
materials including the Neuropsychological Evaluation
Summary & Rehabilitation Strategies Series, among
others.
Dr. Salmon has held senior clinical and administrative
positions at the clinic and corporate levels overseeing
brain injury, psychological and complex injury
rehabilitation services. He is a recognized DAC
(Catastrophic Impairment, Medical/ Rehabilitation,
Disability, Residual Earning Capacity) examiner and has
also been on the graduate research staff with the
University Centre for International Rehabilitation
(Michigan State University). His multidisciplinary
private practice consults widely to public and private
rehabilitation clinics, agencies and case management
firms for the purposes of clinical
consultation/treatment, program development and
training. He is an active researcher in an array of
rehabilitation areas and has presented research and
theoretical papers to numerous local, national and
international forums. |

Acting Director, Clinical Services:
Heather Pickin
In addition to her role as
Acting Director, Clinical Services for RTW Integrated
Health Management, Heather is also a consultant to Dr.
J. Douglas Salmon, Jr. & Associates. Approaching 20
years now, Heather has worked as a consultant to
personal injury and motor vehicle accident victims,
their lawyers and insurers, providing: Occupational
Therapy and Rehabilitation Management Services following
severe and catastrophic injuries; Family Dynamics and
Value of Service Analyses in cases of permanent
disability or accidental death; Vocational Analyses,
Work Site/Ergonomic Evaluations; Return to Work
Negotiating and Planning; In-Home Functional
Assessments; Functional Re-integration Programmes;
Attendant Care Needs Assessment; Future Care Needs
Analyses; Accommodation Needs Assessment and Discharge
Planning; Rehabilitation Case Management; Home and
workplace design and modifications, in consultation with
architects and quantity surveyors.
Heather has held the position of
Acting Director of Occupational Therapy to LifeMark
Assessments, providing management and training support
services, and Consultant Practitioner - Catastrophic and
Complex Assessments, Discharge and Rehabilitation
Planning. She also held a prior management role in a UK
rehabilitation facility, which had a mandate to optimise
personal, vocational, educational and leisure abilities
for adults with acquired or congenital, neurological
impairment, orthopaedic, spinal cord injuries and
traumatic amputees living in the community; she was
responsible for staffing, training, supervising,
budgeting, quality assurance, growth and development of
an holistic community care approach. She also continues
to be a Member of the Board of Directors (Secretary)
Interval House, Toronto since 2003, and a Volunteer and
Member of the Board of Directors Kirabo Canada since
2007. |

Operations Administrator:
Tesa Merchan
Ms. Tesa Merchan joined RTW
Integrated Health Management/Dr. J. Douglas Salmon Jr.
and Associates full time in August 2009 as our
Operations Administrator and brings with her over 10
years of administrative experience. Tesa has spent years
in the property development business working directly
for the CEOs of two of Canada’s largest residential
property development corporations. While working in the
property management business, she has also worked part
time for Dr. Salmon & Associates. Tesa’s collegial
education background in business management along with
her administrative experience serves the needs and
requirements of our clients well.
